A Brazilian musician who built a career on straightforward, rhythmic songs for dancers.
For a sense of his style, try 'Eu a Cama e o Travesseiro' or 'Esse Cara É.' They're both no-fuss forró, built for a crowd.
Haylton Ramos came up in Paraíba, where forró was just part of the air. His early track 'Eu a Cama e o Travesseiro' has that unadorned, danceable feel. Later, the 2000 hit 'Eu Vou Voltar Pró Cabaré' gave him a wider audience, and he's kept recording albums like 'O Filho do Forró' since.
He started playing local festivals and formed Haylton Ramos and Forró da Terra in the early 1990s. After a 2005 arrest, he kept touring and put out albums like 'Só Pra Te Ver' in 2010. His later song 'Já Virou Paixão' shows he's stayed with the genre's core sound.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
