HAYZ formed in 2017 around guitarist and vocalist Antonio Perissinotto and bassist and vocalist Rafael Lemos. Their debut EP, 'Apodrecendo,' came out the following year, setting a tone with distorted guitars and lyrics that leaned into themes of decay and existential weight.
Their sound pulls from heavy metal and darkwave, with nods to bands like Entombed and The Cure in the mix. The song 'Apodrecendo' drew some criticism for its graphic imagery, but the band treated it as part of their artistic approach rather than a provocation.
HAYZ built a following in the Brazilian underground with a raw, layered sound that felt both heavy and atmospheric. Tracks like 'Dorothy' and 'Não-lugar' kept that dark, brooding quality without softening the edges.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
