Hazamat

Hazamat formed in Los Angeles in the early 1990s, drawing from thrash and hardcore while working in some atmospheric touches. Their first album came out in 1991, followed by three more over the next dozen years. The band's lineup has included Erik Rutan on vocals and guitar, Ryan Martinie on bass, Mike Mason on guitar, and Daniel Mongrain on drums.

Their song 'Confessional' became a particular point of connection for listeners. Rutan's lyrics and delivery often dealt with heavy, personal themes, which sometimes sparked debate. The band kept at it through the usual early struggles of limited recognition and tight budgets.

They put out their last album, 'Conflict', in 2003. The details of their activity since then aren't covered here, but the music they made, including tracks like 'Última Noite', found its audience.
