An early-80s electronic trio that mixed industrial rhythms with rock covers.
For their signature sound, try 'Read My Lips' or 'The Nightwatcher'. Their cover of 'Sex & Drugs & Rock 'n' Roll' shows their rock side.
Headhunter's sound was built around tribal rhythms and synthesizers, giving songs like 'Read My Lips' and 'The Nightwatcher' a particular electronic edge. They weren't afraid to cover rock tracks either, recording their version of Skid Row's '18 And Life' and Judas Priest's 'Rapid Fire'. That mix of industrial programming and rock attitude gave them a distinct place in London's early-80s scene.
The band started in London in the early 1980s and put out three albums between 1984 and 1989. Their original lineup included Doug Wimbish on bass, Keith LeBlanc on keyboards and programming, and Michael Franti handling vocals and lyrics. They stopped working together in the early 1990s.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
