Heathcliff the Bandit came together in Minneapolis with Spencer Kellum on vocals, Jake Ingrassia on guitar, Matt Benz on bass, and Gabe Otto on drums. Their name references the character from Emily Brontë's 'Wuthering Heights,' which gives you some idea of their temperament. They put out their first album 'Carousel' in 2014, followed by 'Calico' two years later.

Their song 'Bus Ticket' became something of an anthem for them, the kind of track that gets passed around. In 2017, they got tangled up in a plagiarism dispute over another song called 'The Wilderness,' which they denied. They kept touring after that, playing for the people who connected with their material.
