Heatwave formed in Dayton, Ohio in the early 1970s around brothers Keith and Kevin Christie and their cousin Ernest 'Bilbo' Berger. They signed with Epic Records in 1976 and released their debut album 'Too Hot to Handle,' which included the hit 'Boogie Nights.'
Their 1977 album 'Central Heating' contained what became their most enduring song, 'Always and Forever.' The track topped the UK singles chart. Other notable songs from their catalog include 'The Groove Line' and 'Mind Blowing Decisions.'
Keyboardist Rod Temperton, who wrote many of their songs, left the band and later wrote material for Michael Jackson. The group faced lineup changes and the death of bassist Mario 'Gizmo' Castillo in 1980. They continued recording into the early 1980s.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
