A 1970s LA band that built their sound on guitar riffs and strong vocals.
For their sound, start with 'Rock Of The Ages.' 'When a Blind Man Cries' gives you a good sense of their later material.
Their debut album 'Rock of the Ages' gave them their best-known song, and their catalog includes tracks like 'When a Blind Man Cries' and 'Can You Hear.' They were part of that late-70s LA rock scene that took cues from Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple. The band kept recording through the 1980s and into the mid-1990s with albums like 'Outlaws' and 'Metamorphosis.'
Heaven & Earth formed in Los Angeles in 1976 around guitarist Perry McCarty and drummer Patrick Carney. Their debut 'Rock of the Ages' came out in 1979, followed by 'Kingdom Come' in 1980 and 'The Last of the Mohicans' in 1982. The lineup shifted over the years, with keyboardist Jonathan Cain joining in 1981 and guitarist Neal Schon coming aboard in 1980.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
