Heavy D, born Dwight Errington Myers, came out of Mount Vernon, New York. He formed Heavy D & the Boyz in 1986 with G-Whiz and Eddie F. Their debut single "Mr.

His baritone voice gave tracks like "Black Coffee" and "Now That We Found Love" a smooth, recognizable weight. The group put out six albums between 1987 and 1997, including Living Large and Peaceful Journey.

Heavy D worked with other artists like Michael Jackson and Aretha Franklin. He died in 2011.
