Hector Pellerin

Hector Pellerin first gained attention in the late 1950s with "Fais dodo mon p'tit gars," a lullaby that found an audience among French-speaking listeners. The song's straightforward melody and gentle lyrics seemed to connect with people looking for something uncomplicated and comforting.

He kept recording through the 1960s, putting out albums like "Berceuses d'antan" in 1960 and a Christmas collection in 1965. Other songs from that period include "La chanson du prisonnier" and "Le moineau de Paris." Some critics dismissed his work as too simple, but he didn't change his approach much.

Pellerin worked with a small band that included Albert Carrier on guitar and Roger Gingras on accordion. He also recorded with Edith Piaf and Charles Aznavour at different points. Over time, "Fais dodo mon p'tit gars" became one of those songs that gets passed around in French-Canadian households, more a familiar piece of the background than a dramatic statement.
