Helden formed in Berlin in 1995, originally calling themselves Inkognito. The founding members were Tobias Kaduk, Rodrigo González, and Peter Brugger. Their first major album came out in 2001, self-titled 'Helden', which included the song 'Männer sind Schweine' that stirred up some debate at the time.
They put out several albums over the following years, like 'Masquerade' in 2003, 'Sound of Secrets' in 2008, and 'Neon' in 2011. One of their best-known tracks is 'Clara, Promessa Quebrada', a Portuguese-language song about a broken promise that connected with a lot of listeners. Other songs like 'Deixados Pra Trás' and 'Insistência' also became fan favorites.
By 2016, they released 'Zeit für Helden', which had a somewhat quieter, more reflective tone compared to their earlier work. They also did some film music, composing the soundtrack for the 2018 movie 'Das schönste Mädchen der Welt'.
The band's lineup has included Johannes Strate on vocals and guitar, Jens Kindervater on guitar, Markus Kullmann on bass, Kevin Geyer on drums, and Ingo Politz on keyboards.
