Help Rock started as a band called Help in São Paulo during the 1970s, with guitarist Marcos Mori and drummer Nilton Reis forming the core. They later added bassist Claudinei Oliveira. The group played small clubs around the city while working through the usual early financial struggles.
In 1984 they put out their first album, which included the song "Noite Fria." That track connected with listeners across Brazil, its lyrics about a cold night's loneliness finding a wide audience. Another song from their catalog, "Uísque Barato," also became part of their set.
They kept recording through the 1980s and into the next decade, putting out albums like "Noite de Solidão" and "Sentimentos." The lineup shifted some over those years.
