Henry Angel (H.a)

Henry Angel (H.a) formed in the early 2000s, led by vocalist and guitarist Henry Angel. The band built a following through intense live shows and a DIY approach, releasing their self-titled debut album in 2005. Their song 'Greenday (it's The End)' became something of an anthem for that early period.

Their music pulls from grunge and post-punk, with a touch of electronics that gives it an unsettled feel. They've cited Joy Division and Sonic Youth as influences. Albums like 'The End of Days' (2008) and 'The Void' (2012) carried that sound forward, with songs like 'I'm Not Perfect' and 'I Go To Die' leaning into introspective, sometimes dark lyrical territory.

The lineup has included drummer Lazarus Grey and bassist Ophelia Blackwood. Their work drew some criticism for being too pessimistic, but they kept making the music they wanted to make without much compromise.
