Henry Estrada came up in Acapulco, Mexico, where he started singing in local bars. He formed a band in the 1980s with guitarist Ricardo García and keyboardist Alberto Muñoz, playing romantic ballads and upbeat rhythms.

Their 1987 debut album, named for the song "A Tiempo," became a hit. That title track and others like "Así Sabrás" and "Cuando Te Encuentres Sola" gave them recognition in Spanish-language music through the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Estrada faced some personal challenges in the early 1990s that led to a break from music, but he returned to performing. The band's lineup changed over time, with musicians like bassist José Guadalupe "Pepe" Velázquez and drummer José Luis "Cumbias" Garza joining at different points.
