Heretico formed in São Paulo in the late 1980s with Marcelo Pompeu on bass and vocals, Alvaro Buco on guitar, and Fábio Golfetti on drums. Their debut album 'Tem Um Manual De Instruções?' came out in 1990, followed by 'Aqui, Ali, Em Qualquer Lugar' in 1992 and 'Esquizofrenia' in 1995.
They worked in heavy metal with some thrash and progressive elements, and their lyrics often dealt with spiritual questions and social issues. The song 'Até Eu Convence-los' appeared alongside 'Tem Um Manual De Instruções?' and 'Outra Musica Pop' in their catalog.
Heretico released a live album in 1994 and 'O Silêncio Dos Inocentes' in 1997. Their music had a raw, energetic quality that came through in both studio recordings and concert performances.
