Empfing mich eine rose zart.
Die letzt der noch das verwelken droht,
Denn so alt schon ist zu nah am tod.
Die luft erfüllt vom vogelsang,
Mein geist betrübt im traume..
Langsam schoben wolken sich
Hoch am firmament über mich.
Die rose stand so schön im roten kleid,
Kein hauch legt' es in samtne falten.
Sie blinzelt gegen den weichen sonnenschein,
Doch mir war nicht nach glücklichsein..
Kaum spürte ich den sachten hauch,
Den da zieht ein kleiner schmetterling
Doch die rose spürt' ihn auch,
Warf ein blatte und verging.
So liegt nun ein sanft rosenblatt
Und träumt alleine seinen traum.
Die rose trägt nun ein schwarz faltenkleid
Und schläft allein im kalten leid.
Ich denke heut noch an die blum',
An jenen zauberhaften duft,
Als sie schließlich aus dem leben schied
Und nie mehr nach mir ruft.
