Hermano Souza came out of São Paulo in the early 2000s. The band, led by singer and guitarist Hermano Souza, put out their first album 'Antes de Amanhecer' in 2004. That record had 'Preciso de Você' on it, which became a hit.
They followed with a few more albums over the next several years, including 'Depois do Amanhecer' in 2006 and 'Alma Brasileira' in 2012. The group's sound pulled from samba and MPB, with some pop touches.
Other members included Diego Souza on guitar and backing vocals, Rafael Souza on bass, and Beto Souza on drums. They worked with other Brazilian artists like Seu Jorge and Marina Lima at times.
In 2010, there was some talk about whether they used pre-recorded tracks during a live show, which the band denied. A few years later, a video surfaced of them singing a song with offensive lyrics, and they apologized for it.
