The Hermanos Higuera came together in El Pedregal, Jalisco, in the early 1960s. The group consisted of brothers Juan and Armando Higuera along with their cousin Francisco. They started with a sound that drew from traditional mariachi and ranchera styles.
In 1966 they put out their first album, "La Guitarra y el Canto." Three years later they released "Chiquilla Linda," which became their most recognizable song. Other tracks like "Colorin Colorado" and "El Comandante Cobra" also became part of their catalog.
Juan Higuera, who sang lead and played guitar, died in 2019. Armando and Francisco continued performing. Their music stayed rooted in the forms they started with decades earlier.
