Hermitage

Hermitage formed in 2010 with Eleanor Blackwood on vocals and synths, Ethan Crane on guitar, and Jonah Reed on drums. They started playing in a basement, working with experimental sounds that mixed synths and vocals in ways that felt unsettling. Their first album, 'Aether,' came out in 2012.

In 2016, they released 'Worms and Eyeballs,' a song that became one of their better-known tracks. The music on that album used unusual melodic structures and instrumentation that some listeners found disturbing. The band's lyrics often dealt with themes like mortality and existential unease.

By 2019, they had put out 'The Writhing Abyss,' which moved into darker, more introspective territory. Hermitage's sound has stayed within that experimental, avant-garde space, avoiding easy categorization.
