Hernán Platt came up in Buenos Aires in the late 1990s. He started playing in a band called Los Huesos de Buda before co-founding Guardianes de Pie in 1999. The band took its name from the statue of San Martín on horseback, and their first album came out in 2001.
Platt wrote songs that sometimes got him into trouble for addressing social and political issues. The band kept putting out records like 'El Regreso de la Vieja Escuadra' in 2003 and 'Canciones Perdidas' in 2006.
