Archive material and source history
Hernán y Mario were a Mexican duo from Mexico City who started performing in the early 1980s. They came from the Tepito neighborhood and built a following playing local clubs. Their 1984 debut album included the song 'Donde Estes,' which became their biggest hit.
Mario Alvarado played guitar and Hernán 'Nano' Hernández handled vocals. They released several albums through the late 1980s, including 'Imágenes' in 1985 and 'Sentimientos' in 1987. Their lyrics sometimes addressed social issues, which drew some criticism at the time.
In 1991, Mario Alvarado was shot and killed. The duo released one more album, 'El Último Adiós,' in 1992.
