Archive material and source history
Heroic Age formed in 2001 after the German folk metal band Asgaard dissolved. Angela Gossow, who had briefly joined Asgaard as a vocalist, put together a new lineup with guitarist Chris Boltendahl, bassist Peter Berger, and drummer Max Van Lier. Their first album, 'The Silent Opera,' came out in 2003.
Their sound leans into symphonic metal with orchestral arrangements and melodic power metal elements. Songs like 'Heroic Age - Opening By Angela' and 'Gravitation' show their approach. They've released several albums including 'Awakening' in 2005, 'Dawn of Ages' in 2007, and 'The Green Knight' in 2010.
In 2010, Gossow left the band and was replaced by vocalist Sandra Schleret. The current lineup includes Schleret, Boltendahl, Berger, and Van Lier. Their most recent album, 'Shadow of the Crown,' came out in 2019.
