Herot

Herot formed in Chapel Hill, North Carolina in 1991. Their debut album 'Distance' got some critical attention, but the band dealt with financial issues and lineup changes during those early years.

In 1996 they released 'Two Hands,' which included the song 'Big Boy.' That track became their breakout single, with its moody melody and lyrics about male relationships. It's the song most people remember them for.

Adam Pierce handled vocals and guitar, Mark Spencer played bass, and John Stipe was on drums through much of the band's shifting lineup. Their sound touched on post-punk and folk elements at different points, though they're mostly remembered as an alternative rock band from that mid-90s period.
