Hi-Fi formed in Porto Alegre in 1985 with Paulo Ricardo on vocals, Fábio Campos on drums, Lucio Braun on bass, and André Jung on guitars. Their self-titled debut came out in 1987, and songs like "Você Ainda Não Viu Nada" and "Até o Fim" became hits. They kept recording through the 1990s and 2000s, putting out albums like Close Up, Terra, and an MTV acoustic session.
Their sound mixed pop hooks with straightforward rock, which connected with a wide audience in Brazil. The band faced some public controversies over plagiarism claims and drug rumors, which created setbacks but didn't stop them from working. They released a 25th anniversary collection in 2012.
Hi-Fi's catalog includes tracks like "Bernard," "Bilhar," and "Boneca Inflável." While they haven't been active with new material lately, those earlier records still get played on Brazilian radio and at shows.
