Hi Tek 3 was a Detroit trio active in the mid-1980s, with Anthony Thomas handling vocals, Rodney Lemay on keyboards, and Lamar Thomas on percussion. Their sound mixed electro, funk, and R&B, anchored by synthesizers and drum machines. The single 'Spin That Wheel' came out in 1984 and became their most recognizable track.
They put out a few albums around that time, including 'A Slice of Detroit' in 1984 and 'Platinum Plus' the following year. The group didn't stay together long, facing some internal disagreements and lineup shifts that led to a hiatus before the decade was out.
In the 1990s, as techno and house music grew, some DJs and producers rediscovered Hi Tek 3's earlier work and began remixing it. That brought their music to a different crowd than the one that heard it the first time around.
