Hit the Switch came out of London's punk scene in the early 1980s. Their music was raw and political, with songs like 'The March Of Dissent' and 'Operation Northwoods' channeling the frustration of that era. Justin Sullivan handled vocals and guitar, while the rhythm section included Gary Barber on bass and Tony Roberts on drums.
Their lyrics, written by Sullivan and bassist Andy Pearson, tackled social injustice and government oppression without softening the edges. The band's first album was simply called 'Hit the Switch' in 1982, followed by 'Antidote' the next year.
What they left behind feels more like a handful of urgent recordings than a polished catalog. The music stays blunt and direct, anchored by that early-80s London punk energy.
