Archive material and source history
Hit This City formed in London in 2009 with Claire Richards on vocals, Mark Westwood on guitar, Danny Jones on bass, and Sam Dighton on drums. Their sound mixed pop melodies with dance beats, and in 2011 they released "DJ's Got Us Fallin' In Love," which became a breakout hit that topped charts internationally.
After the single's success, the band put out two studio albums: "Forever and a Day" in 2012 and "In the City of Lights" in 2015. The second album showed a more experimental direction but didn't reach the same commercial heights as their debut.
Claire Richards left the group in 2016, and without their frontwoman, the remaining members couldn't find a suitable replacement. Hit This City disbanded in 2017, ending their run after about eight years together.
