Hollenboer

Hollenboer formed in the late 1990s around brothers Jan and Willem Kuijpers and their cousin Rob van den Berg. They played traditional Dutch folk music, building a following through live shows before their 2005 song 'Deerntie' became unexpectedly popular.

'Deerntie' was a ballad with Jan Kuijpers' raw vocals that connected with listeners across the Netherlands. The song topped charts and became something of a cultural touchstone, though some critics questioned its lyrics and approach. Other songs like 'Dokter' and 'Het Busje Komt Zo' also found audiences.

After 'Deerntie,' Hollenboer kept performing and recording, though the song remained their most recognized work. They maintained their folk sound without chasing trends, playing for audiences who appreciated their straightforward approach to Dutch music.
