Hollie Cook grew up in London with reggae playing at home and a father who drummed for The Sex Pistols. Her first album came out in 2011, and she's put out a few more since then, including 'Twice' and 'Vessel.'
Her songs like 'Milk And Honey' and 'Looking For Real Love' mix reggae rhythms with touches of jazz and soul. She's worked with people like producer Dennis Bovell, who's known for his work with The Slits.
Some early listeners questioned a white singer in reggae, but she kept at it. Her voice has a light, floating quality that fits the relaxed feel of her music.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
