Bitter Words

My bitter words came out impatiently

A flow of misery, of darkened thoughts

Of ignorance and irrationality

Now this unsavory aftertaste is left

My better words, no more secrets to be kept

Your bitter words, a restless source of pain

Different each other day, water to wine

From distant skies to familiar terrains

Now the confusion within has come to light

Your better words won’t suffice to get things right

Thoughtless and perverse

Rhymes of disarray

Soon tore down the trust

Of the early days

Passion in reverse

Poured like acid rain

Soon put down to rust

Our derailed trains

Our bitter words undid what once we loved

They brought up our worst, the secret monsters

We conceal and sweep under the rug

Now the emotions and hopes from us have fled

Our better words, for some reason left unsaid
