Archive material and source history
H.O.P. was a Brazilian pop trio formed in Rio de Janeiro in 2000. The group consisted of Ed Voice, Claudinho, and Nonô, who met at a local music festival. Their debut album "Hopmania" came out that same year and included the track "Ela Fica Louca," which became a hit in Brazil.
They followed with albums like "Na Balada" in 2002 and "Ao Vivo" in 2003. Their music mixed Brazilian pop with funk carioca and R&B, drawing from artists like Tim Maia and Jorge Ben Jor. Songs such as "1000 Graus" and "Ciclone" kept their sound upbeat and melodic.
In 2002, Claudinho was shot and killed. The band continued after his death, releasing compilations like "O Melhor de H.O.P." in 2005 and later albums including "Dez Anos" in 2010. Some of their lyrics drew criticism for being explicit.
