The Cactus

The cactus boy decides he cannot walk,

Boy decides to take the train,

And sing and swing his arms,

Softly watch himself in the window pane,

And he says this is necessary,

And though she said I should not run again,

I just could not live under the same roof as him,

And in the desert I deserve some sleep,

And I need recourse for the course I am taking,

Well we just got word from you mother,

Who says she's awfully sorry,

It's just she misses her man,

But what's the problem,

And he could not go home to his mother,

In the desert there's a man with his arms by his side,

But they're severed so the day when he will look into her eyes he'll say,

And he will not see a river for another thousand miles,

But her lips will be like water when she gives the boy a smile,

And says how I have been searching for you man,

All the while there ain't no birds out here near the cactus,

The place where you are lying,

But the raw pink sky is clear as he turns his head,

And says is it a jet propellor I hear,

And she says boy am I glad to see you,

And boy decides to hold her hand with the hands held by the new arms that she had brought, and given him.

Only the girl in the airplane, he'd swore he'd seen when he was small could save him,

In the desert there's a plant with its arms raisin' high,

And they're never gonna' sever cause she looks into his eyes today to say,
