Hopesfall formed in New Jersey in 1998 with Ryan Parrish on vocals, Josh Brigham on guitar, Jay Forrest on bass, and Mike Ryan on drums. They put out their first album, 'The Satellite Years,' in 2000. Their second album, 'No Wings to Speak Of,' came out in 2002 and got some attention for its lyrics about depression and self-harm, which led to it being pulled from MTV and some stores for a while.
They kept making records through the 2000s, including 'A Typesetter's Dream' in 2004 and 'Magnetic North' in 2007. Their lineup shifted over time, with Adam Morgan taking over on drums around 2008. Songs like 'Devil's Concubine' and 'Icarus' show their mix of heavy guitar work and melodic vocals.
They released an album called 'Arbiter' in 2010 and another called 'Cruxes' in 2017. The band has been active for over two decades, with Parrish, Brigham, and Forrest staying at the center of it.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
