Hops formed in São Paulo around 2005 with João Barone on drums, Fábio Campos on bass, Humberto Gessinger handling vocals and guitar, and Paulo Renato on guitar. They put out their first album in 2007, which included the song "Caminhos Distintos." Paulo Renato left the group in 2010.
They released a few more albums after that, like "Acústico" in 2012 and "Sobreviver" in 2016. Another album called "Um Novo Tempo" came out in 2021.
