Hora XII formed in Belo Horizonte in 1998 with three members: André Leite on vocals, João Ormond on guitar, and Alexandre Meirelles on bass. They started playing local bars and events, working on their rock sound.
In 2001, they released their debut album "Dia Feliz." The title track became a national hit in Brazil, its hopeful message connecting with listeners. The song gave the band its breakthrough.
After that, they kept recording albums roughly every three years, putting out eight studio records through 2022. The lineup changed over time, with Meirelles leaving in 2006 and Fernando Quesada taking over on bass. André Leite and João Ormond have remained constant members throughout.
