Archive material and source history
The Hot Boys came out of New Orleans in the mid-1990s with Lil Wayne, Juvenile, BG, and Turk. Their first album, 'Get It How U Live!' from 1997, had the track 'I Did That' and gave a rough picture of life in their city. They followed it with 'Guerrilla Warfare' in 1999.
Lil Wayne handled much of the writing, with Juvenile adding hooks and BG bringing smoother vocals. Songs like 'Livin in the Projects' and 'U.P.T' carried that New Orleans sound. The group broke up around 2001, and the members went on to solo work.
