Houndmouth formed in 2011 with Matt Myers on vocals and guitar, Katie Toupin on vocals and guitar, Zak Appleby on bass, and Shane Cody on drums. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2015, and the song 'Sedona' from that record got some attention. They followed it with 'Little Neon Limelight' in 2017 and 'Good For You' in 2019.
Toupin left the band after their second album. Their songs like 'Darlin'' and 'For No One' have a folk-rock feel with layered harmonies. The writing tends toward personal reflection rather than big statements.
They've worked with other musicians including Nick Cave and Nathaniel Rateliff. Myers handles most of the lead vocals these days.
