Huaika formed in Bogotá, Colombia in 1998, led by singer-songwriter Camilo Arango. They started playing small venues and festivals, working with a sound that mixed traditional Andean rhythms with more contemporary pop elements. Their debut album 'Tierra de Olvido' came out in 2001.
Their 2004 album 'Amor Brujo' included the title track that became their most recognizable song. That record helped them reach a wider audience beyond Colombia. They followed it with self-titled and other albums over the next decade.
The band's lineup included Arango on vocals and guitar, Daniel Duarte on bass, Carlos Andrés López on drums, Jorge Mario Córdoba on guacharaca and drums, and Diego Cáceres on guitar. Their catalog includes songs like 'Huaika,' 'Mirando Presente,' 'Por Todo Lo Vivido,' and 'Reina Del Puerto.'
