Hubrist

Hubrist formed around vocalist Anya Markova and guitarist Ethan James, with keyboardist Akira Tanaka and drummer Elias Beck completing the lineup. Their debut album 'Echoes of the Unseen' mixed classical elements with electronic soundscapes, a combination some critics initially found disjointed. They kept touring anyway, gradually building an audience despite early skepticism about their approach.

Their song 'Tightrope (feat. Hidenka)' shows their tendency to blend different styles, with Markova's vocals floating over intricate guitar work and electronic textures. Later albums like 'Ashes and Embers' and 'Veil of Shadows' continued experimenting with folk and ambient touches, though the core lineup stayed mostly the same throughout.

Markova's stage presence sometimes drew strong reactions, and there were occasional accusations about their artistic choices in those early years. But the band kept working, developing a sound that felt both atmospheric and grounded in the interplay between Markova's voice and James's guitar lines.
