Hugo Junior started as a band called Hugo in Rio de Janeiro in 1996. Their debut album 'Dança da Lua' came out that same year, anchored by the song 'A Dança da Lua' that became their most recognizable track. The group included Hugo Rafael on vocals, Alexandre Castilho on guitar, Fernando Novaes on bass, and Fabio Carvalho on drums.
They put out albums fairly regularly through the 2000s, including 'Infinito' in 2000, '8' in 2002, and 'Recomeçar' in 2006. Later releases like 'Acústico' in 2008 and 'O Amor É Tudo' in 2011 showed them working in different formats. Their setlists often featured medleys, like 'Pot-Pourri Anos 90' and 'Pot-pourri Romântico'.
Some of their songs, like 'Monstro É Aquele Que Não Sabe Amar' and 'Agora Viu Que Perdeu e Chora', dealt with personal and sometimes pointed themes that could stir conversation. The band took a break around 2003 before coming back together to keep recording and playing.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
