Hum Tum was a trio of musicians who worked together on Bollywood soundtracks before forming their own band. The group consisted of vocalist Kunal Ganjawala and the composer brothers Salim and Sulaiman Merchant. They first collaborated on the soundtrack for the 2000 film "Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai."
Their self-titled debut album came out in 2003. The track "Alka Yagnik" from that album became particularly well-known. Other songs in their catalog include "Chak de Chak de Chak de," "Gore Gore Yeh Chore," and "Mere Dil Vich."
Their music drew from pop and rock while incorporating Indian classical elements. The arrangements were often intricate, built around Ganjawala's vocals.
