Hymnalaya formed in Kathmandu, Nepal, with Suren Pradhan on vocals and guitar, Bidur Subba on bass, and Phurba Lama on drums. Their debut single "In My Early Years" came out in 2014. They followed it with albums like "Hymns from the Himalayas" in 2016, "Songs of Solitude" in 2019, and "The Echoes of Time" in 2022.
Their sound draws from traditional Nepali music, with Pradhan's lyrics often reflecting on personal experiences and the Himalayan landscape. The band's approach initially met some resistance in Nepal's more traditional music circles, but they found an audience internationally.
Their music has appeared in some film and television soundtracks outside Nepal.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
