I Am the Giant formed in Berlin in 2006 around vocalist and guitarist Cam Findlay, bassist Adam Swinburne, and drummer Paul Sargeant. They put out their debut EP, 'City Limits,' in 2008. The band released four studio albums between 2010 and 2018: 'In the Sun,' 'Life in Stereo,' 'The Horrible and the Miserable,' and 'Neon Nature.'
Their sound drew from post-punk and shoegaze, with some ambient electronic touches later on. They had a stable core trio, with various touring and session musicians like Michael Lovett on drums and Matt Merritt on keyboards joining them at times.
In 2010, they got tangled in a legal dispute with a record label that could have stalled them out. They kept going, and songs like 'City Limits' and 'Jim Soule' became fan favorites. Their music had a dreamy, atmospheric quality that connected with listeners.
