I Am the Pilot formed in Sweden around 2007 with Johannes Berglund on vocals and guitar, Pontus Winnberg on bass, and Erik Grönwall on drums. Their first album, 'Moving On,' came out in 2010 and included the song 'A Lesson Learned.' Grönwall left in 2014, and Berglund and Winnberg kept going as a duo.
They put out 'Electric Dreams' in 2015, followed by 'Our Time' in 2018 and 'Dreams of Our Fathers' in 2022. Their songs like 'Headlines' and 'The Uncertainty Of What's Become' often deal with personal reflection and emotional themes. Some listeners have found their work bleak, but the band has generally stuck to their approach.
Their music tends toward atmospheric indie rock with introspective lyrics. Beyond the basic timeline and album titles, there's not much else that feels solid enough to include without sounding like filler.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
