Archive material and source history
I Cavalieri Del Re formed in 1973 around Antonio Mascolo, Franco Campanino, and Vincenzo D'Ambrosio. They took their name from the Italian phrase for 'The Knights of the King.' Their debut album, 'Re Lear,' came out the following year in 1974.
One of their best-known songs is 'Calendar Man' from 1976. The track's lyrics were inspired by the Zodiac murders, which led to some debate about its subject matter at the time. Other songs like 'La Ballata Di Fiorellino' and 'Lady Oscar' also appear among their recorded work.
The band's lineup included Roberto Giuliani on drums and Bernardo Lanzetti on keyboards and vocals alongside the founding members. They released several albums through the late 1970s, with a later album appearing in 1995 titled 'Che Fine Ha Fatto Il Re.'
