I Don't Like Mondays formed in Manchester in the early 2000s with Ed Johnson on vocals and guitar, Chris Corker on bass, and Tom Whitworth on drums. They had trouble getting a record deal at first, so they paid for their debut album themselves by working other jobs and playing shows.
Their song 'Paint' got attention for how it dealt with mental health, though not everyone was comfortable with it. The band put out their first album, 'The Great Escape,' which had some of that direct, uneasy feeling in the lyrics.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
