I Drink Cianetto formed in Portugal in 2017 after the death of bassist and vocalist Sérgio Marques. The remaining members, guitarists Nuno and Luís, drummer Rúben, and vocalist Filipe, kept playing under that name. Their early single "A Chuva Continua a Cair Hoje" came out of that period.
Their songs often feel raw and emotionally direct, like "A soma de todos os medos" or "Borboletas, Andando por Entre Estátuas em Meio as Gotas de Chuva." They put out a debut album called "O Mundo É Meu" and later releases like "Fantasmas" and "O Céu É Escuro" that moved into electronic and experimental rock territory.
Nuno handled much of the guitar work, with Luís on second guitar. Their live shows sometimes drew criticism for pushing boundaries, and a song called "Dentes Vermelhos" sparked debate about its lyrics. But they kept making music that felt close to the bone, without much polish or pretense.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
