A Chicago band that mixes bright melodies with video game energy and internet-era covers.
For a good sense of their sound, try 'Disaster Hearts' or 'No One Likes Superman Anymore.' Both have that clean, upbeat guitar work and big choruses they do well.
They landed in the middle of the Rickroll meme with their 2008 cover of 'Never Gonna Give You Up,' which says something about their timing and sense of humor. Songs like 'Disaster Hearts' and 'Save World Get Girl' have that straightforward, catchy guitar-pop sound that feels very Chicago. They kept putting out records like 'KABOOM!' and 'The X' well into the 2010s, so there's a solid catalog to dig through.
Brian Mazzaferri, Chris Cano, and Joshua Paul started the band in 2005 and released their first album 'Born on a Day the Sun Didn't Rise' two years later. The Rick Astley cover situation happened in 2008, and they worked through the permissions to re-release it. The lineup eventually settled with Mazzaferri on vocals and guitar, Cano on bass, Paul on drums, and Jeremy Landry on guitar.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
