I Pooh formed in Bologna during the mid-1960s, evolving from a local group called The Jaguars. The original lineup included Roberto Facchinetti on vocals, Dodi Battaglia on guitar, Riccardo Fogli on bass, Valerio Negrini on drums, and Mauro Bertoli on keyboards. Their 1971 album 'Opera Prima' brought them national attention in Italy, anchored by the single 'Pensiero.'
Fogli left in 1973 to work solo and was replaced by Red Canzian. Negrini later stepped back from the group after being diagnosed with leukemia. Through these changes, I Pooh continued recording and performing, building a catalog that spans more than thirty studio albums.
Their songs like 'L'altra Donna' became fixtures on Italian radio. While their sound remained largely rooted in melodic pop, they maintained a steady presence in their home country without seeking much recognition abroad.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
