Archive material and source history
Iamdvdx started in Mexico City around 2016, with three members: Daniel Vargas (who goes by DVDX) on production, Rodrigo García (Zhamyr) on vocals, and Miguel Angel Villanueva (Nyan) on percussion. They put out a single called "Amo Mi Cereal" the following year, which got some radio play and streaming attention.
That song had an electro-cumbia feel, with Vargas mixing electronic production against traditional Mexican rhythms. García's lyrics gave it a playful, conversational tone. They followed it with an EP called Eco in 2018, then an album, Amanecer, in 2019.
In 2019, there was a legal issue over a sample used in "Amo Mi Cereal," which led to a short break. After that, they released more music, including the 2020 EP Dancing on Mars and a 2021 compilation called Origins.
