Archive material and source history
Ian Moss grew up in Alice Springs and started playing guitar as a teenager, drawn to blues and rock. He joined Cold Chisel in 1973, a band that became known for its raw live energy in Australia's rock scene. After leaving the group in 1983, he put out his first solo album, which included songs like "Tucker's Daughter" and "Telephone Booth."
In the late 1980s, Moss released "Matchbook," an album that had a more reflective tone and featured "80 MPH Blues." Over the following decades, he kept recording and playing shows, sometimes working with other musicians such as Jimmy Barnes. Songs like "Petrolhead" and "Two Seconds Too Long" show his knack for straightforward rock with a bluesy edge.
He was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2018.
